Apalachicola Quickdraw

Dry Dock

In March I participated in the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air quickdraw in Apalachicola, Florida and won Second Place for Dry Dock. It was a warm, rainy day. I had trouble finding a dry location to paint out of the rain. I found an overhang and chose to paint several boats in dry dock.

Pyle Center hosts WRAP Exhibition

Returning to Port 9 x 12 watercolor $380
Dusk 14 x 21 watercolor $640

I am exhibiting two of my favorite paintings on the first floor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Pyle CenterReturning to Port and Dusk. They will be up until April 2 10 am. The exhibit is part of the Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP). The Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) provides statewide art workshops and exhibits for nonprofessional artists.  Art work is shown in a noncompetitive exhibit in regional communities.  Each one has a different artist demonstration or slide lecture and may have a different judge to lead the afternoon critique.   The exhibit judge answers questions on design, composition, and technique during a group critique and evaluative discussion.  You may enter as many Wisconsin Regional Art Workshops as you like.

The WRAP Exhibit cycle runs July 1 to June 30.  State Award Winners chosen between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022 will be invited to participate in the Annual State WRAP Exhibit in Wausau in July and August, 2022.  An artist may show only one work, even if multiple State Exhibit Awards have been received.

At the conclusion of the exhibit is the annual State Conference. Two days of festivities celebrating the art and artists of the annual exhibit include a gala Evening with the Arts and “State Day”.

The Pyle Center is located at 702 Langdon Street, Madison, Wisconsin. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 7:45 am – 4:00 pm and weekends if there is an event there. You may call the front desk to ask to confirm the gallery hours 608-262-1122.
