Little Free Library

Little Free Library

I  joined 65 other artists registered for the first Plein Air MKE event sponsored by the Milwaukee Mile Museum.

Artists  painted along the Milwaukee Museum Mile, from Juneau Park on the South to Lake Park on the North. The major streets for painting were Prospect, Terrace, and Wahl Avenues.

The “quick paint” on Brady Street was Saturday, May 7.  I set up in front of Glorioso’s Italian Market and painted Regano’s Golden Coin.  Photojournalist David Kadera filmed me at work for CBS 58 news that evening.  On Wednesday, I painted Little Free Library at Back Bay Park.

Three Sheep

Three Sheep

I painted at the Wade House again on Sunday afternoon.  The weather was a little warmer and sometimes sunny.  I spotted these three wooly sheep and had to paint them.  Wouldn’t this painting look good on a Three Sheeps advertising? The sheep have only been at the Wade House for a short time.  They are due for shearing soon, so come visit while they are wooly.

Stagecoach

stagecoach

I was painting at the Wade House last Saturday with Dan Rizzi on a crazy Wisconsin wintery day.  Rain one minute, sunshine the next, then heavy snow.  Dan braved the cold and painted outside. I chose to stay inside in the Visitor Center and painted the stagecoach there.  The Wade House was a place to stop after a long trip from  Fond du Lac or Plymouth along the Plank Road.

Wisconsin Regional Art Program Exhibit

Concert, $250 20: x 28" watercolor 2015

Concert   20″ x 28″ watercolor 2015

Rock Carvings $275 20"x28" watercolor 2015

Rock Carvings  20″x28″ watercolor 2015

Rock Carvings and Concert are on exhibit at the UW-Extension Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison.

I painted Rock Carvings at Rock Island State Park, Wisconsin.   I liked the reflection of the sunlight on the rock walls and the rectangular shapes.

I painted Concert at a Levitt concert in downtown Sheboygan last summer. The city received a matching grant from Levitt AMP to hold a summer concert series.

The exhibit will be up until April 9, 2016. A workshop will be open to the public on April 9, 2016 from 10 am – 3 pm.

The Pyle Center is open Mondays – Fridays 7:45 am – 4:30 pm. Open evenings and weekends as needed for scheduled events. Closed holidays.

Sheboygan Visual Artists Plein Air Expo

Otter Point, $400, oil, 14"x 16"

Otter Point    $400,      14″x 16″   oil   2015

This is one of the ten paintings I have on exhibit at EBCO Artworks, 1201 Erie Street, Sheboygan  from January 29, 2016 – February 14, 2016. Opening Reception is Friday, January 29, 2016 from 6 pm – 10 pm.  Complimentary refreshments.  Cash bar.

Otter Point was done from the rocky shores of Acadia National Park in Maine.  The landscapes in Acadia are inspirational with no shortage of scenes to paint. I chose this scene for the rough shapes and contrasting colors of land and sea.  One needs to be very careful while painting.   One wrong step and your painting days are over.
