Miller Art Museum Exhibition

Rock Carvings 9 x 12 acrylic

My painting Rock Carvings was selected for the 49th Juried Annual at the Miller Art Museum, 107 S 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. The exhibition runs until Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Rock Carvings was painted en plein air on Rock Island, the northern most part of Wisconsin. Stone carvers who were building the Rock Island boathouse in the early 1900’s carved images of Native Americans on the face of the cliff walls.

69 artists from across Wisconsin participated in the exhibition. This year the panel of three judges included Hector Acuna, artist and educator from Grafton, Wisconsin, Laura Bickford, curator at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Rebecca Carlton, artist and co-owner of Juddville Contemporary Studio Gallery in Fish Creek, Wisconsin.

The museum is located on the first floor of the Door County Library, 107 S 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Museum hours are Monday 10 am – 7 pm. Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm. Closed Sunday. Admission is free. Call 920.746.7124

Rock Carvings and Concert are on exhibit at the UW-Extension Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison.

I painted Rock Carvings at Rock Island State Park, Wisconsin.   I liked the reflection of the sunlight on the rock walls and the rectangular shapes.

I painted Concert at a Levitt concert in downtown Sheboygan last summer. The city received a matching grant from Levitt AMP to hold a summer concert series.

The exhibit will be up until April 9, 2016. A workshop will be open to the public on April 9, 2016 from 10 am – 3 pm.

The Pyle Center is open Mondays – Fridays 7:45 am – 4:30 pm. Open evenings and weekends as needed for scheduled events. Closed holidays.
